For Kansas City pet parents who know they didn’t just rescue their pet.

They’re your best friend, your constant companion, and the one who rescued you right back. ❤️

If you talk to your dog or cat like a person, spoil them without apology, and quietly know your life is better because they’re in it, you’re in the right place.

Tender Tails is a weekday, donation-based studio project created for Kansas City pet parents who want to intentionally honor the bond they share with their pet, while supporting animals who are still waiting to find their person.

At its heart, Tender Tails is about gratitude.
Gratitude for the pets who loved us without conditions, showed up for us every day, and changed our lives in ways we never expected.

This second volume of Tender Tails will feature portraits paired with stories and thank-you letters, creating a heartfelt coffee table book that celebrates the unbreakable bond between people and their pets.

Tender Tails is not rushed, free, or casual.
It is intentional, meaningful, and created for people who are ready to thoughtfully celebrate a relationship that truly mattered.

If you’re reading this and nodding along, you’re probably exactly who this project was created for.

Join us for this very special fundraising event for Great Plains SPCA showing how special your best furry friend!

How to Apply for Tender Tails, Volume 2

Step One (1)

Begin by filling out the application and telling us about your pet. Share what makes them uniquely them, the ways they’ve shown up for you, and why this relationship matters so deeply in your life. This step isn’t about writing perfectly. It’s about honesty and heart.

Step Two (2)

If you’re selected, we’ll reach out to connect more personally. This conversation is a chance for us to learn more about your bond, the qualities you love most about your pet, and to answer any questions you may have about the Tender Tails project. Many people tell us this step alone feels grounding and meaningful.

Step Three (3)

Selected participants submit the $185 application fee to confirm their place in Tender Tails, Volume 2. This fee is fully donated to Great Plains SPCA.

We’ll then schedule your weekday portrait experience at our Overland Park studio and guide you through preparing for a relaxed, enjoyable time with your pet.

Step Four (4)

Enjoy a guided, joyful portrait experience with your pet in the studio. Afterward, you’ll view your portraits, select the image that will be featured in the book, and explore artwork options to thoughtfully honor this relationship in your home. There is no rush and no pressure. Just space to appreciate what this bond has meant to you.
