Forever Portraits
Celebrate the Love You Share Every Single Day
Most couples have thousands of photos together. Most of them are quick, casual, and taken with one arm stretched out holding the phone.
But the love that steadies your life deserves more than proof that you were there.
It deserves to be seen with intention.
The way they look at you when no one is watching. The laugh you share without trying. The quiet comfort of a hand reaching for yours like it belongs there. This is the kind of connection that becomes the foundation for everything else.
Forever Portraits are created to honor your relationship as it is right now, in a way you can live with every day. The first thing you see in the morning. The familiar presence you come home to at night. Not as decoration, but as a reminder of what you chose, and what continues to choose you back.
What It Looks Like to Honor Your Relationship
- 1
Begin with Conversation
We start by learning about the two of you.
How you met. What this season feels like. What has strengthened your bond over the years. Whether this portrait marks an anniversary, a health scare, a fresh chapter, or simply the realization that time is moving quickly.
This conversation shapes everything that follows. The goal is not to create something generic, but to reflect what is uniquely yours.

A Guided Portrait Experience
Your portraits may be created in our Overland Park studio or at a location that feels meaningful to your relationship.
We guide you with calm direction so you never feel unsure of what to do. There is no forced posing or exaggerated romance. Instead, we create space for natural connection. A hand finding another. A shared glance. The ease that comes from years of knowing someone deeply.
The experience feels relaxed, intentional, and centered on the two of you.

Choosing How This Love Lives in Your Home
After your portraits are created, you will decide how they will live within your space.
For some couples, this becomes a statement piece in the bedroom or hallway. For others, it is a curated collection that quietly weaves into their home.
This is not about marking a milestone and moving on. It is about choosing to see your relationship daily. The steady presence. The shared history. The life you continue building together.
Over time, these portraits do not feel outdated. They feel grounding.
Mark and Joan
Fifty Years, Still Choosing Each Other
Mark and Joan recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
For more than four decades, Mark stood behind the camera here at Strauss Peyton encouraging couples to honor their relationships. Yet like many photographers, he and Joan had never fully stepped into that experience themselves.
So we changed that. Even photographers need a little encouragement, especially from family.
For their anniversary, they came into the studio to create something intentional. Not simply because fifty years is a milestone, but because a shared life deserves to be acknowledged.
What you see in these images is familiarity. Ease. The quiet confidence that comes from building a lifetime together.
And fittingly, their portraits were created in the same studio that has celebrated relationships for generations.
Because Every Love Story Deserves to Be Remembered
From first glance to years — preserve the moments that matter most.
Why Create a Forever Portrait?
Because relationships rarely get the spotlight they deserve.
You build careers. Raise children. Care for others. Manage schedules. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, the relationship that started it all quietly carries everything forward.
This portrait is about acknowledging that foundation.
It is about honoring the person who has been your constant. The one who has stood beside you through ordinary days and defining seasons. The one who knows your history and is still choosing you.
Many couples realize the last time they were photographed with intention was their wedding day. Others never created portraits that truly reflected who they are now, after years of growth, change, and shared experience.
And sometimes, life reminds you that time is not guaranteed. A health scare. A milestone anniversary. A season of reconnection. A simple awareness that the years are moving quickly.
You do not need a dramatic reason.
The fact that this relationship exists, and continues, is reason enough.
Kevin and Tracee
A Portrait Created with Intention
Kevin and Tracee met as teenagers and built a life together over decades. Children, shared history, and countless ordinary days shaped their relationship into something steady and enduring.
After Kevin survived a heart attack, they chose to create portraits that reflected what they had built. Not out of fear, but out of clarity. They wanted something tangible that honored their years together and the devotion that had carried them through every season.
Their images capture more than a moment. They reflect comfort, strength, and the quiet confidence of a love that has been lived fully.
That is what a Forever Portrait is meant to hold.
Some Of Our Beautiful Couples
You Don’t Need a Special Occasion
There does not have to be an anniversary or milestone to create portraits together.
Most couples wait for a reason, and in the waiting, years pass.
If you have built something steady and lasting, that is reason enough.
Framing the Moment: A Note from Your Artist
Life is busy. I understand that. There are schedules to manage, responsibilities to carry, and the steady rhythm of daily life that rarely slows down.
It is easy to look up and realize another year has passed.
Most couples have hundreds of photos on their phones that capture the everyday moments they share. I do too. They are real, and I am grateful for them.
But unless we decide they are important enough to print and live with, they remain tucked away, surfacing briefly in a memory notification before slipping out of view again.
Over the years, Jonathan and I have created portraits in different seasons of our relationship. Not because there was a major milestone, but because we wanted to acknowledge where we were at that time.
Those are the portraits we print. The ones that live on our walls. The ones we see every day. They are reminders that our relationship deserves attention and care, not just survival between responsibilities.
So here is my encouragement to you.
Do not wait for a perfect reason.
Choose to create something that reflects the two of you as you are right now.
Your relationship is worth seeing clearly.
Cheers,
Kaela
EXCELLENT Based on 35 reviews Posted on Dounya BourissTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thanks to Kaela and Jonathan, we lived a fantastic experience! They made it so easy for us and and we felt confortable right the way! They even accomodated complicated last minute work conditions, going out of their way to help us. The final photos were so great that it was very hard to choose from them. The portait was of an artist (a shy artist) in the middle of her paintings. She looked gorgeous and the art work looked as wonderful as it is in reality. Thank you Kaela and Jonathan. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a Forever Portrait?
Is this only for newlyweds or anniversary couples?
Many couples create portraits simply because they realize they have never intentionally documented their relationship outside of their wedding day.
Where do couples portraits take place?
We help determine the best setting based on your style, comfort level, and the overall tone you want your portraits to carry.
How long does a couples portrait experience last?
The pace is structured and calm, making the experience comfortable even for those who do not usually enjoy being photographed.
What should we wear for our couples portraits?
Some couples choose a refined look, others prefer something more relaxed. Many incorporate both. The goal is cohesion, confidence, and comfort so the final portraits feel elevated yet natural.
My partner is not comfortable in front of the camera. Will this still work?
Before any portraits are created, we take time to get to know both of you. We talk about your relationship, what matters most, and any hesitations either of you may have. This allows everyone to feel heard and understood well before the portrait day arrives.
By the time your portrait experience takes place, it no longer feels like something unknown. It feels familiar.
That preparation is what transforms nervousness into anticipation.
Do you retouch couples portraits?
We use lighting, composition, and subtle retouching to ensure you look your best while preserving what makes you recognizable. The goal is polished and flattering, not artificial.
How much does a couples portrait experience cost?
Details are discussed during your consultation so expectations are clear and transparent. Most couples view this as an investment in artwork that becomes part of their daily environment for years to come.
